Your Light Rising Part 3

Your Light Rising in the Darkness – Satisfied and Strong

How are you today? Are you worn out? Are you dry? Is your soul weary?

Isaiah 58:11a

“The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy you in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.

You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”

Is God Involved?

Is God involved in our world today? Does He care what is going on here?

God is Absolutely Involved

According to Scripture, this is not at all how God operates. I am so very thankful for that. I see Him at work and I know you do too! So we know that after He set everything in motion, He did not take His hand away and He never will. The God of the Bible wants to be heavily involved in our lives and is ultimately in control of everything. He deeply cares about His Creation. Hallelujah!!! Because we know this fact, we can read Isaiah 58:11 and take this beautiful promise literally.

Once again, we must remember that it relates to fasting, giving ourselves up for His glory, and walking in His will.

Let’s go to the Verse:

“The LORD will guide you always… ”

So, at this point in our study, we have done away with the pointing finger and malicious talk and are spending ourselves on behalf of the hungry, right? It is my prayer for you and me that the Lord will guide us always and that we will fervently seek His guidance in all things.

“…He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land… “

Like Elijah

In a dry desert-like place He will satisfy your needs. This could be a place like Elijah was in where God actually sent ravens to feed him and put him near a stream of water.

The Lord Provides

I am reminded of a time when I was growing up. This is a long story but I am going to attempt to share with few words.

When I was 10 years old, my mom and dad divorced but reunited when I was 15 which was such a huge blessing. While they were divorced, Mom went to tech school and studied drafting (aka mechanical drawing).

Mom had a terrible job and because Dad was very generous with child-support she quit the awful job and we lived by just her faith (God’s provision) and the child support. Though it was generous it was not nearly enough for a family of 4 to live on.

The month she quit her job our power bill dropped to under $5 a month. She called the power company and they came out and checked the meter. It was operating just fine. Our power bill remained under $5 a month until Mom graduated and got a job. Then it just went back up to normal.

He does miraculous things!! He really does!!

Like David

It could also be a spiritually dry place like David spoke of in Psalm 32. We can be in spiritually dry places because we are committing sin (such as adultery or repeated drunkenness), because we are not spending time with God, or because God is about do something in our lives and He wants our full attention. This blog came out of just such a dry time for me.

These Dry Places

When we find ourselves in dry places we can know that God is doing something. He uses dry times to discipline us, draw us closer to Him and mold us. We must call out to Him and trust Him. He will do what is needed to sustain and even satisfy us, as we seek Him during these times.

Back to the Verse:

“…and strengthen our frame… “

Going through hard times draws on our strength but God wants to restore/renew our strength.

I think of Isaiah 40:31 –

The NIV says that if we hope in the Lord, He will renew our strength.

The KJV says that if we wait upon the Lord

The AMP says that those who expect, look for and hope in Him

One thing is apparent, we must look to God for that renewed strength.

Look to God

God uses situations and circumstances to draw us to Him. Every passage of scripture points us to Holy God. He truly is the Center of Life and the Renewer of Strength. God the Supplier of Needs and the Satisfier of Souls. He is I AM. He is Everything.

Think of it like this, God Almighty set the whole universe in motion and He sustains it. He is God and He wants to be my God and your God. God wants and deserves to be on the throne in my heart and your heart; He wants and deserves to be the all-consuming focus of our lives.

A Holy Obsession

According to the entire Bible, God wants and deserves to be our complete obsession. My motive and your motive must be our love for Him and His glory. If we are obsessed with anything else, including being blessed, we are our own obsession – we are on the throne in our hearts.

However, if He is our obsession, He will be our Great Reward! We will be blessed with other things but we will be able to keep them in perspective as unnecessary. He is our Very Great Reward (Genesis 15:1) and walking in intimacy with Him is us enjoying that Very Great Reward.

Let’s pray:

Thank You, Lord, for Your Word. You are so great and beautiful and You show us that throughout it. Thank You that today, You have shown Yourself to us. Help us to be consumed with a passion for You alone, so that everything, truly everything else just fades into the background. May our eyes and hearts see You as we should. You are Holy, Almighty, Omnipotent, Beautiful God. Help us to adore You! Help us to put You first, trusting that then we will be able to love our families and others more easily and more rightly.

Be glorified in us today and help us to be about Your business. Make us completely Yours. In Jesus beautiful name, I pray. Amen.
