Tomorrow??

Tomorrow?

Because of recent events in our family including the sudden loss of a dear young friend, I am compelled to share today’s post with you all. We never really know what is down the road or around the next curve. We are not promised tomorrow. Please, do not wait until tomorrow to answer the questions I am about to ask you.

Romans 10:9-11 (NIV)

That if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth you confess and are saved. As the scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.”

I want to take this opportunity now, to share with you about where we start. If you have never made a commitment to Christ, this is your opportunity.

God Stuff

Just because we are interested in God “stuff” and may have enough self-control to behave ourselves does not mean that we are saved and that we are Christians – Christ-followers. If you have a doubt then please dig in. This entry is for you. We will be in this particular passage for the next few days and will be getting into some details of salvation. Hopefully, you will know for sure by the time we have gotten through the whole passage. If you determine that you are not a Christian, you will see clearly how to go about to receive the amazing forgiveness that He has for you.

If you are already a Christian then maybe this series will help you in sharing Christ with others.

Let’s Go to the Verse:

“That if you confess with your mouth… “

To confess with your mouth is more than just to say something out loud. It means to say it and mean it.

Is He Your Lord?

“…Jesus is Lord… “

We see this all the time but what does it mean? We see it painted on posters in the stands at sporting events and painted on bridges on highways.

In England, a lord is in charge of a certain area. He is the boss. When we confess that Jesus Christ is Lord we are saying, “Jesus is the Lord of me. He is in charge. He is the boss of me.” Have you thought of it that way?

His being Lord is always true. It is His place of authority and was His before Creation. The question is whether we are giving Him all authority in our individual lives or not. If He is your Lord, you will choose His way instead of yours. You will desire that His plan and will go forth more than anything else.

Do You Believe It In Your Heart?

“…and believe in your heart… “

Believing in your heart is more than knowing that something is true. When you believe in your heart it changes your heart. When you believe in your heart it changes your life. The day I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior He changed me and I have never been the same – not perfect but different.

He Rose From the Dead!

“…that God raised Him from the dead… “

We are not able to be with God unless our sins have been paid for. The problem is made bigger by the fact that we are incapable of paying for those sins ourselves. We simply do not have what it takes. The only way they can be paid for is if perfect life does the paying. Jesus Christ died on the cross, poured out His blood willingly for us to make a way for us to be saved. He paid for our sins to be forgiven so that those sins no longer stood between us and God.  He died and was buried. After being dead for three days He came back to life and in that, He beat death for us because He has power over it.

When we get a solid hold on what Christ has done for us (John 17-19 [3 chapters]) and how truly awesome it is that God raised Him from the dead, we can know that we can trust this God with our lives and our futures.

“…you will be saved.”

Let’s go back over verse 9 –

  1. Confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”
  2. Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead
  3. You will be saved

In tomorrow’s post, we will talk more about this passage.

Let’s Pray:

Oh Lord, thank You so much for making a way for us to walk closely with You. Thank You for making a way for us to be saved. Please help each person reading this to really think about this and allow You to deal with their hearts. May today be the day of their salvation! Please make us all completely Yours! In Jesus beautiful name, I pray. Amen.
