So Big

God’s love is so big!

Have you thought about how big God is? And as huge as He is, how big must His love be?

Ephesians 3:18

“…may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ…”

Oh! This verse almost carries me away! The sweetness of God’s love is overwhelming and then you put the hugeness of His love with that and it is almost too wonderful to contain! We cannot grasp it but we can know it as part of our lives as believers and as a beautiful aspect of God’s character.

As I read this verse slowly and try to take it in completely, a peace like the richest velvet just washes over me. I cannot explain or describe it very well. You must just experience it for yourself by the power of the Holy Spirit, huh? It is truly too wonderful to describe.

Let’s go to the Verse:

“…may have power…”

Whose power? Not ours, right?

“…may have (the) power (of the Holy Spirit)…”

Then,

“…together with all the saints…”

Saints – That is us as believers!

“…to grasp…”

The only way to grasp what is next is by the power of the Holy Spirit. God has to help us wrap our minds around this!

“…how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”

All of the universe cannot contain His love. He who is big enough to create the universe certainly will not be limited by His own creation! He is much too big for that!

And He loves you! And He loves me! Wow!

God is so Big

In our human thinking it is so easy to try to understand God and His attributes, but when we try to completely grasp it, we limit our concept of Him.

God is Love

According to 1 John 4:16, “God is love.” He is not defined by love. He defines love. We must know and continually be knowing that we cannot wrap our minds around Him and we need to always remember that. His defining love is so outside what we hear. We hear “God is love” and think that God is loving as we think of loving but He is so much more. He is the one who decided what love is. I think I need to say that again…He is the one who decided what love is! Is that cool or what!!??

His Love

Do you know this love? I pray that you do and if you do not yet, I pray that you will soon. His love is for you too!

At the end of this life, according to 1 Corinthians 13:12, we will know Him fully as we are known. In this busy, over-stimulating world that we live in it is challenging to look toward anything that is not physical. But what an amazing future we have in Christ!

Seek Him

May we seek the Lord, with our only motive being to know Him. When we seek to know Him He will show us His beauty in so many different ways. His huge love being one of those beautiful holy ways. Let us seek Him to know Him more and more!

Let’s Pray:

Thank You, Lord, for Your Word. Thank You for being such a big God!! We thank You for loving us. Lord, Please help us to love You with all that we are and help us to seek You to know You. Help us to glorify You in all we do! Make us what You want. Be glorified in us! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
