“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your Word.
I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands.
I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.
Praise be to You, O LORD; teach me Your decrees.
With my lips I recount all the laws that come from Your mouth.
I rejoice in following Your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on Your precepts and consider Your ways.
I delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect Your Word.”
This psalm is very well-known because, as I am sure you are aware, it is the longest chapter in the Bible. It has 176 verses. It is broken into 22 – 8 verse stanzas.
Nearly every verse in the chapter of the total 176, has a word in it referring to God’s Word. Each of the above verses has at least one and Verse 16 has two. What is really amazing is that the verses do not say the same thing over and over. It is really a wonderful and very rich chapter!
So, how important is God’s Word? How important is it that we know and apply God’s Word to our lives? How do we do that?
You got it!! We read it, study it, hear it preached, talk about it, and meditate on it (take quiet time and prayerfully think about it).
What kind of emphasis do you think God is putting on His Word here if He has had a 176 verse chapter written about it? And this isn’t counting all the other times He talks about the importance of His Word throughout the Bible.
I do not know if this was for you today, but it was for me. I know it was different from the usual format. Back to normal next time… maybe.
Love you guys!! Have a blessed day!!
Lord, I do thank You so much for Your Word today. Please help us to fall in love with it – completely! In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
