So, how are you doing? Do you have it all together? Are you feeling beat up? Are you tired?
I have a quote hanging in my kitchen that sums me up pretty well. “Some days I amaze myself; other days I put my keys in the fridge.”
Just when we think we have it all together, someone or something reminds us that we do not.
Do you know that the God of the Universe loves you with an immeasurable love? Yes, you! God loves you! He loves you – personally! He loves you – individually!
His love is the greatest love in the Universe!
Psalm 103 is a wonderful example of Hebrew poetry. However, it is so much more than that! In these 22 short verses, we see a snapshot of God – His flawless character, His unfathomable ways, His great love, and His mighty power.
For today, I was looking at one or two verses but I could not find a stopping point anywhere from the beginning of the psalm to the end of it. We will be spending a few days in this beautiful chapter, so please read the whole chapter with me each day. It will change your life!
Psalm 103:1-22 NIV
A Psalm of David
Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits – Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, Who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel: The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will He harbor His anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on His children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him; for He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children – with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts.
The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.
Praise the LORD, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word. Praise the LORD all His heavenly hosts, you His servants who do His will. Praise the LORD, all His works everywhere in His dominion.
Praise the LORD, O my soul.
Let It Sink In
Dear friend, I sincerely hope that over the next few days, you will really think about this passage. Let it sink into your heart and into your soul. Read it a couple of times each day. Read it out loud. Write it down in your journal. Process through it slowly and make notes.
Boggles the Mind
God loving us is mind-boggling! I mean – Why would He?
Because He wants to. Because that is Who He is. So now, just read about Him and His great love and we will talk more tomorrow.
Lord, thank You so much for loving us, knowing that we do not deserve it. Thank You for telling us so many times in Your Word that You love us. Help us to get a grasp on it and begin living like we are greatly loved by You. Make us aware of Your love. Help us to see it in Your Word and in our lives. May we know You better and better through Your Word. Help us to know Your character and Your personality. May we love You back! In holy Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
