Don’t Be Afraid

Don’t Be Afraid, Only Believe

Years ago, my family suffered the loss of my dearly loved aunt. It was a very difficult time. I am sure that you have experienced this kind of loss, too.

Dealing with My Grief

It was a time in my life when I was doing a lot of songwriting. I didn’t usually “work” on songs as “real” songwriters do. They just kind of came out of me as God gave me tunes and lyrics. I “wrote” many songs this way. I worked with musician friends who helped me put chords with the tunes.

Before my aunt went to be with Jesus, God began putting a song in my heart and I began trying to get it out and onto paper but it just would not come. Then after she passed, I stayed up all night one night crying, praying and grieving. I was so grateful that she was no longer suffering but I was very sad for all of us who would miss her so much. God finished that song in my heart that night and I want to share the lyrics with you today.

As believers in Christ we have this promise in Scripture.

Look for the Blessing

What do we do now? How do we go on?

Its never gonna be the same again.

As the pain tears at the fiber of who we are

and the ache inside seems to intensify…

Look into

look into the face of God and

Chorus

Look for the blessing in the hard time

because in the hard time, He doesn’t leave.

He’s right there beside you in the hard time

Don’t be afraid, only believe. (repeat chorus)

Bridge

He will carry you through, His promises are true…

So run into

run into the arms of God and

Final Chorus

Find the blessing in the hard time,

because in the hard time He doesn’t leave.

He’s right there beside you in the hard time.

Don’t be afraid, only believe.

Know He’s right here and He’s not gonna leave.

Don’t be afraid, only believe.

Matthew 1:23 ESV

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel” (which means God with us).

Matthew 28:20b ESV

“…And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Things to Ponder:

  • Is this promise yours today? The one condition of this promise belonging to you is that your faith for salvation is in Jesus Christ alone.
  • In the hard times, run to Him. Run to His Word. He loves you and you do not have to go through hard times alone.
  • There is no comfort, my sweet friend, like the comfort of our beautiful Savior – Immanuel – God with Us.
